Labor Day Weekend and my B day...
Good morning all,
Wow yet another year has flown by. Last year was my first time I was sober for my bithday in over 20 years. And now I am here again looking forward to spending the holiday weekend and monday have a fun sober time . I will be 41 this year, and what I have learned over this year, is how much life can be without the constant daily battle to get that drink in me and keep it in me.
I wish I would of never had waited till 39 to even begin trying to get sober. But we all get here if were lucky enough, in our own way and our own time.
I know these weekends or holidays can be hard specially when you might of just quit. But it can be done , and you can remember them. For over 20 years I couldnt wait for the holiday's specially this one to have the major blow out. But in all reality it was everyday was that "holiday" . I would drink cause it could be the dog's birthday, raining, snowing, cutting the grass. It didnt matter any excuse to drink more to excess.
So now this year I will do the same things I used to ... Grill food, fireworks, and watch the Blue Angels rip over the city and the lake. Only differance is now a days I hit a couple meetings a day, and spend it with real friends, and other drunks that are now sober also..
And with that , I just wanted to wish everyone a safe , happy, and sober holiday weekend. And if you think you cant be around alcohol without have trouble dont go there yet next year or maybe never And if you do get caught somewhere that is getting you uncomfartable have a way to GET OUT of there !!!!!!!!!!!!! Dont do someting youll regreat...
Have fun and smile cause sobriety looks good on you...!!!!!!!!
Good love, Inda

Happy Birthday!
We will be celebrating birthdays also. My daughter turns 14 and my boyfriends daughter turns 15. I spend last night making a cheesecake and a caramel cake. Amazing what we can do when we are sober.

Happy Birthday!!! I was in my 40's when I got into recovery, and also wish I would have done it earlier, but it takes what it takes to get to where we need to be (or something like that )
Hugs and prayers,
Amy
