Thank you Dee74. Your advise helped. I think I'm getting the hang of this site now. Thank you so much!

Drift apart: Thank you so much for your response. I do not abuse my pain medication. I take it on a very strict schedule. The reason I stopped taking it tho was because I found that if I chose to skip a dose because I wasn't in that much pain, I would get sick. My pain medication is for pain... Not illness. So, I stopped taking them. I just wish I could find something that will take away the pain without the pills. Even though my family is against it, I just may go for the nerve ablation but there is NO WAY I'm going to have surgery!

64888 I think it was suggested already but there are pain clinics that specialize in alternative methods of pain relief. I have no idea how they work. Perhaps you could look into that?

Hi everyone,

I just want to share something from your sober future.

This morning I woke up after having finally slept well, (haven't slept well this week), and even though I am still cleaning up messes from the past, and even though i knew I had to go to a sad funeral today, as I lay there, a thought suddenly came to me.

It was this: "I have seldom been this happy."

This is your future too.

Good morning to you Under 30's

Hope you're all well and sober.

Good post there EQ

Sleep does get better after the first few weeks, I've gone from being an insomniac to sleeping for England!!

Got a busy day today so must dash.

I'll catch up with you later.

Stay strong, stay focused and stay sober,

Big hugs

Gxxx

Today IS Day 30!
I feel much improved & looking forward to even more.
I'm doing things a lot different this time. No more hanging out with old drinking buddies or going to bars but just ordering club soda, I'm actually looking for ways to change and improve instead of just abstain from alcohol.

Thanks everyone.

6 days here. No cravings, but I know that I'm going to hit that overconfidence route soon where I think I'll be in control. Plus as your body recovers, you have to deal with all your extra energy.... two things that have prevented me from staying sober in the past...

Hi again

Laceup, Congratulations on day 30 sounds like you have the right attitude there.

Welldone on day six HillHo, at least you're aware of getting complacent, that was my downfall too.

We'll get there!

Big hugs

Gx

Yup, day 6, longest I've been without alcohol for almost two years. Going to take this one day at a time, no promises, no quick fixes, no big pledges to myself. Just each day, afternoon and evening as it comes.

No, I'm barely ready for the next hour. I'm not feeling overly confident on my ability to say no or to inform others that I have a problem.

The first weekend is tough for sure GW..

my advice is put your recovery first - think about all the invites you get this weekend and decline any you think are going to be too hard for your recovery to handle right now.

and stick by SR - I spent a lot of time here my first weekend

You can do this

Just popped in to say goodnight

Good stuff HilloH, sometimes it's one hour at a time, baby steps all the way. But those baby steps add up and before long they make a mile!

******

I'm ready for it EQ, bring it on!

GottaWonder, you're not alone in how you feel, like I said above, baby steps all the way. Don't worry about others, just concentrate on yourself for now, the importance of your sobriety is second to none. Keep yourself as busy as possible, read as much as you can on here, post as much as you can, even join the chat rooms on here if you need to talk. You're not alone, we're all here to hold your hand, so use us.
***

Well, I'm going to bed very shortly but I'll pop in tomorrow to see how it's going.

Night night, stay safe

Gxx

Afternoon here on day 5 I think I've been lucky (in a weird way) having been handed the most stinking cold/flu type thing that's kept me in bed for pretty much 2 days. I know the hard work is going to start when I feel better.

I must be on the up, been perusing the chinese menu... that'll be me later and back in bed by 6.30!

Hope all the other under 30s are enjoying their Saturday!
