My ex-wife was totally baffled by me and my behavior. I'd have to ask her to be sure but I think, deep down she loved me....she could still see "potential" (man, I grew to hate that word....)but when it got right down to it, she just couldn't take being with or around me anymore.
Truth was...... I couldn't stand being around me anymore either - hence, a lot of drinking.
One thing's for sure - I was a heck of a lot worse off mentally, emotionally and spiritually than I ever imagined.
Sure didn't think AA would work. Even when I did start to think it worked, I was pretty sure it wouldn't work for ME. I couldn't have been more wrong......and I trust you'll find the same. It is, though, what you make of it. The AA program can change your whole life.....but you have to be a willing participant. Meetings are great....but they're just get-togethers. The real meat of the program is in working the steps and applying them to your everyday life.
Stick with it.....you'll be frickin' amazed.
