Today is the 4th day in a row I am not drinking.

Congrats outdoors! That's awesome!
I went to an AA meeting on my first day Aug 1 (28 days sober - YOO HOOO!!).
Keep going to meetings and keep coming back here to SR for support.

Speaking of outdoors, are you a hunter? I used to mix a drink with my brother and dad after coming out of the woods from a morning deer hunt. First it started by celebrating when one of us got a deer down, then it progressed to every day we hunted. I guess I'll have to change that tradition during this fall's deer season!! My dad (and hunting mentor) has passed on now, so I guess I'll have to toast him "in the sky" with my coke or bottled water!

Keep taking it one day at a time, OUTDOORS!

hi there, how do u build up the courage to go? its not that i think i am better than someone who drinks everyday because my dad done it for years and i know what people go through as a result. but i dont think i have the same problem. I am a weekend binge drinker. I dont drink on a friday but as soon as i start on a saturday i seem to make up for it. I drink more than most but dont drink on a day to day basis. I will be the first 1 there to drink and always the last one to leave. Even on my way home i will stop by at any house party to the dissatisfaction of my partner, it could easily go into the sunday. If not i usualy wake back up and start again. Its been affecting me turning up at work on mondays. I can honestly say that i have went roughly about 20 weekends at most without a drink since i was eighteen. I am now 28. Thats not including the many , many times through the week that i have had a drink for the football on tv. Most of the time i drink i wake up in the morning wondering what i have done the night before. Im active in sports and think i would be a lot fitter without it, it would allow me to spend more time with my partner and children but i just cant get the first few weekends under my belt. How do i get started?

I'm still trucking on and still making meetings. All is well for me right now. I think its time to find a sponsor. I'm not exactly sure what to look for in a sponsor, but I know for me that needs to be the next step.

Today is day 11 and I am not drinking today.

It's not when you drink that's the issue.

Sounds like you are taking the right steps to help you stay sober.

My sponsor died 2 years ago and I've never replaced her, but it helped me to listen to what people shared in meetings and approach those that I was able to identify with. Some worked out, some didn't. Fortunately you can change your mind as you grow in your sobriety. In the beginning, I just wanted someone fully accessible for me to check in with daily.

Try to find someone who has what you want...Somebody to take you through the steps.....Take a look at this pamphlet....And congrats on your progress!!
