Free drink coupons Today I got a handful of free drink coupons in the mail from one of the airlines I fly regularly. I had a hell of a day but I threw them straight into the garbage. I'm 111 days sober today. I hope everyone out there is staying strong! |
Good for you...Congrats on 111 days!! |
good move WTL - congratulations on 111 days :) D |
Congrats! Good work. Keep it up |
congrats on !!!1 |
Why didn't you hand them out to the people on the airplane the next time you fly? You would have made a lot of people happy that day. |

My husband and I rode to Sturgis on our Harley a few weeks ago to enjoy the motorcycle rally one more time. A few days upon arrival we rode to a popular Cigar Shop for a good flavored treat to enjoy after lunch. The cigar shop was on the bottom level and the oyster bar was at the top and with paid parking we were handed 2 free beer coupons. Because we were hungery we decided to get a bite to eat before heading to the cigar shop. As we sat in front of the bar in the seating area enjoying our meal, we teasingly entertained the idea of having those free beers. Of course we began with a single thought then talked out the results of what would actually happen if we did drink those poisonous beers. Before we knew it, we dismissed those dangerous thoughts and proceeded to the cigar shop for what we really wanted. Then off we rode to our next destination. So, even with 22 yrs sobriety, alcohol is always lurking and waiting to capture its next victim, never slowing down, never caring who or what it destoys in its path. It certainly doesnt care if one has a day sober or as much as 22 yrs, to 100yrs. Im sure if I was in a vunerable spot in my recovery or if my recovery foundation had a weak spot in it, alcohol would have weaseled its way, working it way to cause more damage to it before engulfing the entire life that it was built upon. To this day, I have to remain forever vigilant in my recovery program, following up on my daily maintenance to keep it strong in case a huge storm of unwanted temptations come calling at my heart, mind and soul. Staying sober one day at a time. |
Well done Walktheline, you showed great fortitude. You should be proud. Thank you Sharon for sharing that post. You are an absolute inspiration. big hugs Gxx |
Great post Sharon...Thank you. |
Nice job tossing those coupons. Sharon, thanks for the reminder that staying vigilant is a forever battle, not just during the early days. I needed to hear that today. |
It seems like I started getting coupons and that everyone was having an open bar once I decided to quit drinking. I enjoy free drinks, but not as much as I love being sober! I love helping myself and others. I love not being sick every day. I love not going to jail. I love these things more than a free drink. |
Another win! 111 days is AWESOME! Congratulations on another GREAT day! |
Gotta love Southwest Airlines. I get those too. Great job on 111 days. |
