I'm a mom of an addict- pain pills and benzos. I read the 10 things for family members list and it rang true !! This has been going on for 4 or 5 years. It IS progressive, we've tried everything. Recently during a hospitalization for seizures from ceasing Xanax without tapering down we tried to convince him to do rehab but to no avail. That was 5 weeks ago and he's back at it. I wish I felt more confidence that letting him hit bottom won't be going to his funeral.

I am so sorry. My heart goes out to you, having gotten into recovery myself, I still believe that it would be worse to watch one of my children mired in addiction than to have lived it myself.
