30 days and no one to tell.

I drank at least a pint of vodka a day for the past 15 years.

Today is 30 days sober!

I have been so deceptive in my drinking, I now have to be deceptive and hidden in my sobriety. I hid my drinking....now strangely enough, i am hiding my sobriety. My wife doesn't understand why I am so tired, I actually appear more impaired now than when i was deep in drink, my body just trying to get acclimated to producing new neurotransmitters etc.

Just wanted to say hi y'all.

I do see changes, I am laughing, not out of social obligation but because i feel lighter and more joyful (in moments).

Achiles, BIG congrats on 30 days!! You can tell us, we'll throw a party for you I sort of feel the same way. In trying not to make a big deal out of quitting, there's no one in my "real life" to be impressed by the milestones. It is ironic too, that we may be more "out of it" than we were when we were drinking in some ways...Natural laughter is one of the biggest sober benefits in my opinion!

Good going! I was a regular vodka drinker too (about 2-3 half pints a day) and the first few months of not drinking I would add up how much vodka I had avoided buying up to whatever day it was. Quite soon it became many gallons, all of which I did not have to drink!

So 30 days X 1 pint day = about 4 gallons.

Congratulations!

Congrats on your 30 days!

I, too, have been extra tired lately. I'm glad to hear that I am not the only one.

Wish you continued success!

It's Day 30 for me as well! Congratulations to you. I have been through some of the symptoms you described. I think things are just going to continue to improve as we stay on this sober path.

All the best to you.

Thank you everyone! I am cheating. I finally got a doctor to prescribe me Antabuse. I feel much much more at peace when I know drinking is not an option. I realize that I wold have been drinking everyday if it were a possibility. I am not able to go to inpatient rehab (which is probably what I needed)...this is just a way for me to get some sobriety under my belt and figure out how to live my life without alcohol before i stop taking the Antabuse.

Great work on 30 days. If your not already, I suggest a program of recovery (AA or something similar) get to those meetings and learn about a power greater than yourself that can relieve the obsession to drink and be on your way to a new life

Well done. You're working really hard on this. Keep focused.

Thanks for sharing with us and at least you have seen your Doctor so he is aware of the situation.Go back and see him again and give him the whole picture. He should be able to arrange alternative treatment too.

Best wishes

Gxxx
