My aunt (who is also an alcoholic) drinks vodka "because it doesn't smell" - she smells so strongly of alcohol all the time.

I can smell alcohol from 20 paces in a wind storm. Vodka has alcohol and has the definitive odour of alcohol.

It does give off a strong smell of alcohol. I have no idea where that myth originated.
