intervention got me tonight...
 

Scrolling through the channels, i saw intervention was on. turned it on. watched closely as it was about an alcoholic girl. anyways, her mother was asked to seek treatment..... her kids confirmed they wanted her to quit. that is me and she tried to talk her way out of it-- havent we all--but its not fair to my kids. I dont want them to be teenagers still wanting mommy to quit drinking. anyways it hit home with me. I am doing this for me, so they can reap the rewards! day 1 is done and i am about to hit the hay, good night sr! ill be back in the morning!

I watched it too and it struck a raw nerve.

I've been soaking up a lot of stuff lately on personal stories of addiction to reinforce that I have to commit completely to never drinking again.

Good for you, Chardonnay! I actually found I enjoyed being a mom so much more after I got sober. Things didn't rattle me as much, and I wasn't always wanting them to hurry up/go to bed so I could be free to drink.

I saw Intervention, too. It made me sad that the mom didn't stay in treatment, but at least it will be harder now for her to stay in denial.

Hang in there and remember to take it a day at a time....:yup:

Sucks about the mom who was in such denial about her nightly two bottle of wine habit. Hope the daughter doesn't keep relapsing, too.

I always find it incredibly triggering!

I saw it too. That mother was incomplete denial about herself.. and i think the father said some really mean and nasty things to her. It always makes me glad that I quit when I see these shows

I saw that episode too. Really brings it all home. (I used to watch it while drinking - ugh) I have noticed that they are showing more episodes where things don't turn out well. You know, they go to rehab, stay sober and are so happy - then return to "the outside" and relapse. I guess that is reality, but it is so sad.

Your kids will love you even more if you are sober!
