365 24-hrs

Today marks one year of freedom from alcohol for me. I know I couldn't have done it without the guidance and wisdom of AA and the support and sharing here on SR.

To anyone who's new, wondering or struggling, it IS possible. Even when you think that the only answer is a drink or a hit, there are a thousand other answers waiting to be revealed. It's the stopping to look for these other answers that's hard. Hard but not impossible.

Many days I had to tell myself, "Well I'll just do it today. It's too damn hard and if I want to give up tomorrow I guess I can. But today I'm doing it." Funny thing is, it's always today. And as the days go on, I no longer feel this way. Now my sobriety is like a treasure to me, I protect it, I value it.

So hang in there, do what you need to do to stay sober (talk, write, yell, sing, walk, sleep, eat, listen, share, hug, love, be loved, read, watch, play, drive, ride, shop, paint, run, anything!) and have faith that you are worth it.

This is great post foodie, thank you.

I'm 5 weeks into second attempt this year to get sober, 1st 1 lasted 4 months but then I blew.
I was very tempted to go to BBQ earlier which would have loads of booze flowing.
But not today!

Thanks and well done

Way to get back on the horse Seanie, that's the only way you'll get to ride. We always have to put our sobriety first, and for right now that might mean skipping BBQs. Thanks for the excellent reminder to always, always put our sobriety first!
