2 months sober today
Tools I used for recovery: SR and changing routines and gratitude
Physical changes: healthier diet and better exercise
Emotional changes: less ups and downs, more confidence, improved communication in my marriage
Spiritual changes: increase in gratitude for the little things, increasing ability to accept life on its own terms, more patience with myself and others
Drinking used to be my only coping mechanism for stress; but now that it is no longer an option I find myself able to reduce stress in other ways OR and this has been crucial for me: accepting that sometimes life is stressful, sometimes I will be uncomfortable or bored or frustrated or all of those and IT'S OK. I can start to let go and it is such a relief. I am so grateful for SR which is a constant source of support and understanding. SR was there for me years ago when I wasn't sure I could or wanted to stop drinking and it's still here for me now when I'm finally ready to live again. Thank you

Good on You Effortjoy,
You definitely have the right attitude, this will keep you sober. Like what you said about being uncomfortable at times and we just have to accept it and feel these emotions and not react to them.

Congrats EffortJoy,PondLady, and BrandNewMan on your 2 months accomplishment! A very big deal, and encouragement for the rest of us!
I agree re stress, you can find other ways to deal with it when drinking is no longer an option. Once you don't drink to decrease stress you discover that probably the drinking was increasing the stress all along.
