Energy Drinks?
Energy drinks affect me very strongly. After having my first one, I literally went thru withdrawal, physically shaking. It makes me feel super hyped up and I hate the feeling, and yet, I keep drinking them. It's like my obsession to drink alcohol. And I rationalize it because it's not drinking alcohol.
Has anyone else run into this problem with energy drinks?

I remember your first post on this (it was you wasn't it who had a really bad reaction?)
I think if you hate the feeling but you still do it, it's probably cause for concern.
Do you get a buzz from drinking them?
You might be playing a pretty dangerous game, skip?

I love those things personally, always have. I don't think those were withdrawals, you were just jittery because of the caffeine.
That being said, when I started cutting down on the alcohol I also started drinking way too many of them and began to get a bad physical reaction.
These days, I try to get my caffeine from healthier, more natural sources. Tea is my favorite for that. I still drink energy drinks, but make it more of an occasional treat. Why not try the same, it also happens to be cheaper?

They actually do give you a bit more of a buzz than coffee, especially the high-strength ones, but the difference is slight. It might even be psychosomatic.
I've asked a few people, but it wasn't you I was thinking of SG
I drink a few...they don't seem to have much of an effect on me unless I drink a lot...but it's a whole different ballgame to coffee for me.
When I drank it, I could drink coffee all day.
These things...you need to watch it.
From bitter experience, I think it's best to be aware (or beware) of 'the buzz'.
In the end, energy drinks may not necessarily be a problem in themselves but they may be symptomatic of something else going on...

I drink them like I used to drink alcohol. Fast, and on an empty stomach. It does give me a "high" feeling. And I drink them to get that "high" feeling, even though I don't like it. It's actually quite ridiculous. Why would I keep doing something that makes me feel crazy.
I just moved almost 2000 miles away from "home", started a new job, new AA group, feeling homesick. I've been crazy since moving. "dry drunk". I need to pull it together.

Do an internet search on them, it's pretty scary.
I've never had one, don't intend to, I put enough toxins in this body for more than a lifetime.
I hope you slow down a bit and maybe increase your water intake.

I'm glad you're aware of this Skip. Might be wise to knock the energy drinks on the head tho I think?
Have you made any friends in your new group yet?

just the thought of those energy drinks makes me a little queasy. in addition to the caffeine, most are loaded with sugar, taurine and other substances. if you want the caffeine, i'd stick to moderate amounts of coffee or tea. much healthier, more natural and any stimultant effects are much smoother and more subtle.

If I'm correct, energy drinks are based on extreme amounts of caffiene. Too much of this isn't good for you either. At one point I drank extreme amounts of coffee. Topped off at 17 pots a day. Can you say ... vibrate.
My heart raced. Adrenaline surged. ... and then came the crash.

I stopped drinking energy drinks. I had a very bad reaction from a supermarket brand one, so I switched to better ones. They are nice, but I realized that started to like them too much. So I stopped buying them.
Coffee is a natural drink, so I love it.

I can drink 6 energy drinks and have zero effect on them. It only works after the first can and after that nothing happens to my energy. I guess, I got use to them.
The caffeine in coffee is a different type of caffeine in those energy drinks.

Healthyfood, "I started to like them too much". YES! That's how I feel.
I know that drinking energy drinks is not a problem for the general population.
The way that I drink them, and "use" them is a problem for me.
