What activities or hobbies did you pick up when you stopped drinking?

I have found that my exercise levels have gone through the roof, if anything I have become 'addicted' to running (which is much healthier). I've also just generally done more of the things I enjoy, such as reading, walking, going to the cinema etc. I don't really see this as a 'replacement', my life has just expanded since alcohol hasn't been a part of it.

I got back into Model Railroading. I am building a layout that is 12' x 14'. I find it to be a very good way to have quiet time for me. Hope you can find something that you enjoy doing.
I run and weight train and play guitar and that takes up most of my free time, and I play video games.
Oh and I joined church choir! I get to sit next to my dad in the bass section. Practice is pretty cool, church is a little boring but it's nice to see my parents more often and the people there seem decent.

Last summer I was early in sobriety and did not have a job...I went swimming both in the pool and ocean regularly...this summer I did not have as much time. However, I take daily walks and have started doing some volunteer work...wish I could get back into my writing again. For the moment, it just isn't there...

I do everything I did while drinking, but with intention and drive, rather than just showing up. I take walks in the woods, lift weights, take exercise classes, read, play with my kids.
One thing I do now that I did not do before is at this time of night, when I used to be internally writhing for the kids to fall asleep so I could get outside to a beer, I now calmly lay with my 18 month old to sooth her to sleep, and chat softly with my 4 year old, who is laying in the bunk bed above us. It's a special time that I will never get to relive, and I'm so glad I woke up to the beauty of it, after so many months of wishing this time away so I could get a drink.

I know this is an old thread, but it's a good subject.
I didn't so much pick up a new hobby, but I did get more ambitious in taking care of my dogs and cats. Now that I'm sober, they get fed on time, walked, vet care. My critters are my number one passion.
