5 Months today

Well it's been 5 months since I last drank alcohol and I won't drink today. Thanks to everyone that has been supportive, you know who you are.

To me the greatest challenge is getting over the first 6 weeks or so. During that time my mind was so screwed up and I was still going through a lot of pain. Each day I would question whether or not I could deal with the rest of my life being that painful. After about 3 months that pain subsided though and things began to get easier. I prayed a lot, spent a lot of time on this site and also avoided risky drinking situations. I also started putting a daily equivilent of money into a jar that I would have spent on drinking. It added up very quickly and has become quite a reward for being sober. Hope that helps. God bless!
