Trying to sober for my first unborn child.

I've been struggling with my alcohol addiction for a couple years now and I'm just sick and tired of not changing. I need to clean up for my baby, whom I already love with my life. I'm going to my first A.A meeting tonight at 8 and kinda scared. If anyone has any advice i would pove to hear it I'm stressed out afraid I won't be able to quit. I cannot loose my baby.

It is scary. My advice to you is to get yourself through the door. Say hello to those that say hello to you and stay until the meeting is over. That's it. You don't have to put too much pressure on yourself. It's hard enough to get through those doors. We all know that because we've been there. Good luck. You won't be sorry you went!

Go to your meeting, you'll be fine.

All the best.

Congratulations on your impending parenthood!

I don't do AA, but what silly said makes sense to me. You don't have to talk if you don't want. Just go and get a feel for it. I think you will be glad you have taken the step.

Welcome to SR!

If you love that baby so much. Think about that baby every time you think about wanting a drink. You wouldn't give that baby liqour in it's bottle when it's born right? You don't want to drink while pregnant. You might be addicted, but don't pass that addiction on to your baby and then it's born with FAS. You can do this!!!! You have to be strong, and it will be hard, but you NEED to do this for your baby. It needs you!!!! (((hugs)))

I wish my husband had felt the same - but he was too far gone to be thinking rationally. It is a wonderful thing that you're facing this now, before the baby ever knows it was a problem. Your sweet baby will have a clear headed dad that he/she can count on. Good for you, smitty.
