This place is amazing
I have been afraid to admit to myself that I have a problem. I did and googled alcoholic forums. Thank god I found this place. I am honestly looking forward to sobriety. For the first time, I have made a plan and a goal to be sober.
I'm just so grateful I found this place. I'm thankful, I'm.... I don't even know what to call these emotions.
Most of all, I am finally looking forward to my journey to sobriety.
Thank you.

Welcome to SR Habiba just like you I stumbled on this site when I realised my drinking had taken over my life. Happy to say I am 1 week sober today and much of that is due to the encouragement from this site keep reading and posting we are all in this together.

TorontoGuy, my plan is to have a visit with my doc this week. I'm pretty sure I won't suffer the major withdrawal symptoms, but I know I'll suffer from the mild to moderate ones. I'm hoping to get some sort of medication to help with the irritability for my kids sake. They don't need to see me like that.
My driving force is my 8 month old baby girl who is sitting next to me right now saying "mom mom mom mom mom". And I can't disregard my oldest son (16) who is off with his friends enjoying a beautiful day. My oldest daughter is at soccer right now with her dad. She LOVES soccer but she excels at swimming. She's on the local swim team and at age 11 she's a junior lifeguard.
And my youngest son is 8 years old. His sport is hockey. He is a goalie and he is one talented player. I'm as proud as can be!
I need to do this for them. No. I WILL do this for them.

((Habiba)) - Welcome to SR!! I lurked here for a couple of years...got clean, relapsed a couple of weeks, came back here.
I've been here ever since, got over 5 years in recovery and I know..without a doubt, I wouldn't have it if it weren't for people here. NOW, I will say this...SR isn't enough for everyone. It's great, but some f2f support is also very helpful.
When we truly want recovery, we find what works for us..online, f2f, whatever...we go for it as if our life depends on it. In all honesty? Our life does depend on it.
Hugs and prayers,
Amy

Habiba! I am so very impressed with you already, and this is why:
I have said that our success at this sober business depends fundamentally on the strength of our vow to never drink again, and you got it going on. I think that is wonderful!
I have a very good feeling about this. Well done!
