Need A Sponsor

I must be honest, I don't have an alcohol or a drug addiction. I am a self injurer and I belong to an SMA group, which we have meetings online, but it is grouped around the 12 step program. I'm not doing very well going through the 12 steps by myself, because I'm not really sure what I am doing. There are only a couple of people in our group who have completed the steps and they are already sponsoring someone. I really need help with the steps and if anyone is will to sponsor someone who self injures, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi scr2680

We predominately deal with substance abuse here - we do have a few cutting threads in our mental health forum tho...that may be a place to start?

Mental Health - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

there's a sticky post in there with other forum links too

Welcome to SR

Keep seeking a sponsor. I know of people who worked the steps alone, but in my experience, I needed to work with someone who knew these steps.

Your sponsor will show up!

Love,

Thank you all for your support. Sugarbear thank you and I am really trying to get a sponsor. I know that I need help with the steps. It is just really hard to find someone that is willing to work with a self injurer. Thank you veritas. Your step work will be a great help. Thanks Dee! I posted there to see if I could get help too.

Welcome to SR Scr

Could you go to AA meetings and try and find a sponsor there? I'm a self harmer and an alcoholic and to me they amount to the same thing. Maybe you could phone up your local AA and ask them about it. Here in England we have some 12 step mental health groups as well that hold meetings? Have you come across anything like that?

I hope you find the help you need x

Thanks all I hope I can find one too. I am going to try and go to a f2f aa meeting but it is hard to get the opportunity between work. We don't have any support groups by me that I can attend for SMA, so I go online for meetings, Thanks Anna! I hope I can find one too
