Day 1

Today is day 1 for me. I am a 47 year old, high-functioning alcohol abuser of 18 years. My last glass of wine was yesterday. I will need support--please wish me luck!

Welcome! I did it through AA, and at night and in the morn I am on SR. I really need the support of a group to quit drinking, and I really need this site when I am alone at home. It has been a sober saver to me since I found it!

Good luck! This a great site. Sobriety can be hard work but worth every minute of it!

This place is great to get the very support you need. Keep reading and posting x

Hi.
I'm 48, also a so-called "high-functioning" alki for many, many years. I'm now closing in on three weeks sober. It's doable. And worth doing. I think yesterday was the first day I didn't crave a drink after work. And that felt very, very good.

Welcome from a pretty low functioning alki :)

This room is awesome for support

Welcome to SR soulgypsy. I find AA helps me a lot, as does this place. It's going to be a bit rough for the next few days, but it does get better, believe me.
What's your plan for staying sober? Because I quickly found out I could not do it on my own...

MrsKing 07-26-2012 09:27 AM

Good luck! SR is a fantastic place for support and understanding. Congratulations on making this decision and I wish you all the best on your sober journey. Welcome!

Welcome!!! So glad you found us. From a barely functioning alcoholic, I hope we can all do this together.

Awesome to have you :)

My first attempt at sobriety was after a ICU visit when I was 39. This place was the first thing I found and love it , you will find great support here.

I also use AA daily and have for a 1 1/2. That really ruined drinking for me. ;)

Good luck! I am hoping to start my day 1 soon too XX
