Two months yesterday -- and lifting weights

I just passed two months yesterday. Feeling fantastic, and its getting easier and easier not to have a drink. Temptation is still there for sure, but I feel like I'm in a good groove avoiding bad situations, and even going to a few events where there was liquor and being able to stick to my guns and not drink.

I wanted to share one thing thats working great for me. I've gotten into lifting weights and am doing that four days a week now. I've never been one to go to the gym, but I tell you, after a good workout there is nothing further from my mind than having a drink. I find myself craving a protein shake and real food, not booze. It also gives me something to focus on, gets the tension out of me, and I don't think I've slept as good in years. I was pushing 200 lbs when I stopped drinking. A few days ago I was just over 180!

Anyhoo -- for those looking for something to do with all their down time they aren't spending drinking...

Hi Deschain, I am also finding weightlifting very satisfying at the moment. It definitely helps to have something to focus our extra energy on and is a great stress reliever. When I can feel that horrible temptation creeping into my thoughts, I go and grab my weights and pump it completely out of my system! Nice to see new muscles, too! Regards and best wishes,

R
