Being a non drinker is so normal now

We were trying to book a camp site and were checking out the state parks. There is no alcohol allowed apparently (not sure if it's enforced) and it hit me how that would have been an absolute dealbreaker just 2 years ago. Now, I appreciate it! Even (especially?) on my birthday weekend. :bday7

I remember thinking that sobriety the terrible consequence for those who couldn't control their intake. I remember clearly stating that I would rather struggle and drink than go without. Now that just seems so stupid. Like a paranoid person saying they'd relax if everyone stopped conspiring against them. I was just a very typical alcoholic. But had no idea.

Forever grateful to SR! Ya'll saved my life. No doubt. :You_Rock_

Thank you for this post. I too am starting to feel "normalcy" by not drinking. I simply fill up my travel mug with my favorite drink (turkey hill diet green tea!) before I go to any social events and that way I know I have something I will enjoy and I don't even look at the alcohol if there is any present. I'm a non drinker and I'm proud of that. :)
