I need time for my recovery!

Yesterday marked my 21st day w/o wine. I began feeling better w/in a few days of stopping. My adult daughter lives with us, due to serious health problems. She was a factor in my decision to stop, as I noticed her drinking to ease her pain, and I was facilitating it.

My frustration is, I NEED, daily time to devote to connecting to people who've stopped drinking. Last night, I decided to visit the chat meeting for the first time, as I was feeling restless. My daughter wanted to talk. I was "short", as I was trying to read people's comments, and know this hurt her feelings.

That's all. Just needed to vent a little.

Sounds like you have a full plate and then some, Pondlady. I can only imagine.

Keep close to SR! Tas you've noticed, the connection you seek is only seconds away and the lights are always on.

And congratulations on 21 days.

I think there are definitely times in recovery when we need to be 'selfish'. The thing is, we can't keep giving and not take time to refill ourselves with what we need. I need time to be by myself and focus on recovery every day too and I miss it a lot if I can't work it out.

Thank you Roger and Anna. I feel better just knowing someone listened. I think my role of care giving is draining and I needed someone to listen to me Thanks again.
