New Here!

Hello everyone!
My name is Jake and I'm an addict. For the past few years I've been struggling with my drug and alcohol use. I won't get into too many details but after many bindges, overdoses and getting in trouble I went into rehab. I was there for almost 2 months and got almost 60 days clean but I ended up relapsing and getting kicked out so now I'm on my own!

I'm not sure If I'm completely ready to let go of my drug use, it's hard. But I'm trying and I attend meetings regularly.

I had to really get that first step - I am powerless over alcohol it makes my life unmanageable. I made it and then I would relapse a million times. Not really a million, but you get the point.
This time my sponsor keeps reminding me of the first step. I am taking it much slower this time also. I have made it 6 months, and I have done it one day at a time.

Welcome to SR! I got booted from rehab last time for relapsing during IOP. A few months after that i started attending AA and sobered up. I had to go to meetings daily or multiple times a day since that was what i needed. I was such a heavy drinker. Keep up with those meetings and coming here. It's great to have you on board!

Welcome Jake!

You're right, it's not easy.... but it does get easier over time (unlike living with addiction). Glad you're here - this place has gotten me through lots of times when I wasn't sure I could do it!

Welcome Jake!
Jumping on here and reading helps get me through those cravings sometimes. Give it a try next time you get one.

I learned that if I didnt get rid of alcohol
when I had the opportunity to, then alcohol
was gonna get rid of me. And it almost did
21 yrs ago. With a recovery program as my
foundation to build my life upon each day, I
can use the steps to reach a confortable, secure ,
happy, content place to enjoy my day alcohol
free. And I have.

You can too.

Welcome to SR jakec.

I get the most out of AA by attending the meetings. AA don't demand a person to do or believe in anything. So meetings is a good start, then you can decide if you want to work the steps. Many do the steps to be recovered from addiction. I work the steps in a secular fashion as an atheist in AA.

Anywho, being here at SR is also a program for addiction recovery. Wile your here, use this site for your recovery.
