Foods/Drinks That Help With Withdrawal

Lily here. I'm on day 5. I'm thinking about alcohol a lot but I'm trying to remain distracted. I feel fatigued and restless at the same time. Tired but sometimes can't sleep. A little anxious sometimes in the evenings. I haven't been nauseous in a couple of days, but now my stomach is feeling a little off. Does anyone have any suggestions for foods and drink (maybe teas?) that help calm you and help with these symptoms? There's so many recommendations on the internet, I don't know where to start.

Hi Lily, Hang in there!

I like having organic carrot juice, or other healthy juices, like oj, apple, or blueberry smoothie/blue machine.

I enjoy jasmine passionfruit green tea with honey, and Earl Grey.

I enjoy folgers half caffeine coffee with hazelnut creamer and skim milk.

There is a tension tamer by celestial seasonings that is good.

Chamomile or mint teas are mild for the stomach.

Warm soups can be comforting.

Eat well, whole foods, healthy foods...comfort foods. Sugar helps. Dark Chocolate is good.

You said your stomach is off.

Tea and toast. Bland foods. Cheerios. Mashed potatoes and turkey dinner, or chicken with rice and vegies. Yogurt and fruit. Easy things for your body to digest are good. Bananas for potassium.

Walking can be helpful.

Another member told me that taking a nice shower is helpful and it is nice to relax tension with the hot water.

Get a comfy pair of pjs. Spoil yourself. Rest. Watch a feel good movie.

Thank you, Veritas. That tea sounds great, I'll have to buy some. Soups can be comforting, oddly I have been craving chicken noodle like crazy.

First act as if you have a stomach flu, your stomach lining is healing. Lots of water. Then begin eating healthy foods without a lot of spices, then introduce them. I ate a lot of milk and cereal when my stomach felt a bit better.

Cream of wheat, mashed potatoes, some crackers, gingerale, watered juices instead of full strength....

I hope you feel better soon!
