The chuckling stranger.

Just came back from grocery shopping and while I was there I saw some co-workers. I went back to grab a monster energy drink, which is right next to the alcohol and one of my co-workers said "You going to get some beer?". I respond "I don't drink", and someone over heard that and chuckled when he heard me say that. This made me smile like never before, the guy was buying a bunch of beer and the thought that I'm completely sober while he's going to go ruin his night with alcohol was priceless to me. I later saw him check out, and I kept that grin on my face while I saw him check out. He looked desperate trying to check out, not waiting for that first drink. I could sense this from a mile away, everything he did showed he couldn't wait.. I was there in line waiting, calm, happy, and buying things that are good for my body (well, except for the monster energy LOL)..

He chuckled at me? HA!

Excuse me while I go enjoy my sober night .

I'm glad that you felt good, Gerbosko.

Some people are not yet at the point where they undersand that they need to change their lives. I try to send out positive thoughts every day to addicts who are still suffering. I will never forget how miserable I felt when I was hurrying through the checkout.

Remembering not to take someone elses
inventory, I quietly think to myself.....

But For The Grace Of God or my HP, There
Goes I.

That use to be me for a number of years
buying alcohol until it stopped working for
me. Now, I feel sad to see so many struggling
with addiction. And then there's the good
news that there is help available to all who
wants it.

Yes, I remember those days all too well also. Always worried about what people thought about me as I checked out every day. Money wasted and depression worsening as I felt the need to just get home, crawl in a dark hole, and drink my night away. Laughing at someone for choosing to be sober is ridiculous in my opinion and that's why I posted or else I would of just "let it be".

It's so funny how some people look down on us for not drinking. Like there's some secret thing we're missing out on. I know what i'm "missing out on." A fuzzy head, loss of control of my mind and body, drunk dialind, mornings full of hangovers and regrets, moths flying out of my wallet...yup. i'm missing out. I think i'll keep missing out and be grateful that i am.

haha. right. what an idiot. I really don't think some people can comprehend being without alcohol. Some people don't WANT to get better.

Thumbs up

You're right. If i was feeling excited to go
down the alcohol isle to pick up my favorite
poison and someone says they don't drink, im
pretty sure I would have reacted the same.

Now, today, being sober, I may have said
a few choice words to their cockiness under
my breath %$^&#$% you piece of sh*t....:rotfxko

I simply feel for him, hopefully he will not die before he can surrender if in fact he has a problem. Or he is just a a**, which whatever there are plenty of them.

In any event I will be in the rooms waiting for that next newcomer, for I lived that way for to long.
