read something very cool!

hi all.

Well, loads of extra rest, social events, happy days and sad and still keeping sober (into my fourth month) - so I'm very happy!!!

I bought a book today about running (I'm so obsessed with both books and running) - I read something I thought was cool:

'Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional'

- its relating to long distance running, but I think its applicable here too.

Love to all. Bon weekend!

I join you in your obsession about books. They've saved my life. Running however...

And, I agree, suffering is optional. We can choose to be happy.

Fabulous quote, thanks for sharing!

I have started reading much more AND working out. Keeping the mind and body healthy is essential.

What's the name of the book?

I've been reading and running a lot these days. Even yesterday, after my very first sober night on a tourbus, I went running with two of the guys, it was great.
I think I'm starting a new era in my life.

Four months is amazing, good job, you can be very proud!

That is so true, in any endeavor worth really working for!
We can't always control what happens to it. But we can control how we perceive it.

Also related to getting in shape, and applicable here:

"You can be sore today, or sorry tomorrow."

Glad you guys like it. The book is 'What I talk about when I talk about running' by Haruki Murakami - such a great read. LOVE Murakami.
- and so awesome Sentso to hear you are entering a new era of your life - 28 is a good age to do it!

Thanks for the other quote Change4good - awesome!

I've heard about Murakami, but never read anything he wrote. I'll keep it in mind!

(change4good: ah ah "you are not a tree". Should write that on my bathroom's mirror)
