Woke up sober, spent the day sober, went to bed sober.

Spending the day with non-drinking friends - one a recovering alcoholic and the others simply aren't drinkers - really helped.

Well done everyone

It was rather easy for me, being in the UK it was just another regular work day.

Made through 4th of July but now I'm home thinking about the pack of beer my bf was going to throw out before he left for a few days :-(

Me too!
Thought about it for a second though watching fireworks in San Francisco. At first, I looked around and got mad I couldn't drink like others around me. Then I looked more closely...more people were not drinking then drinking. And enjoying themselves! It was all perspective to me. Had a great time!

Stay strong. Get the beer and dump it out. It is just a craving and it will pass.

I made it through and yesterday was only my second day (after many attempts) But this time there is no stopping me! Even if my wife and myself are separating and shes leaving in the morning. I am doing this for me!

I didn't do so well yesterday and caved.. but I dumped out all the alcohol in our apartment and am starting over! I was about 2 days in but I'm back at day 1. Thanks for the encouragement! I really felt weak and disappointed in myself for drinking and am determined to stay sober.

Me too for two to my credit all in a row! I am not just glad to be sober. I'm glad to be.

No drinks or cigs for me this 4th of July. Then I was still proud to say on the 5th marks 6 months for me.

None for me, either. Again.

Great thread—seems like the reality is a lot more hopeful than those stats mentioned at the beginning would suggest...

I'm here because of 4th of July and too much time off work made it so easy. I'm looking forward to actually doing something next 4th instead of just being hungover and sick and laying in bed.
