My first AA Meeting
I did it! I finally got the courage to walk through those doors. Thanks to everyones support, suggestions, and sharing of their experiences. On my way there I saw a bumper sticker that read "If it can go well, it will." I took that as my sign. I'm really glad I went, and everyone was really welcoming. I definitely plan on going back and getting some phone numbers. Thank you SR for helping me in so many ways!
That is AWESOME that you did it! It takes a huge amount of courage to walk through those doors.
The people in those rooms will provide so much support and love for you. It's simply incredible. I have met some of the most selfless, loving, and understanding people in support groups. They have also provided me with more true wisdom than I know what to do with.
Keep it up!

I just can't wait to actually talk to another person about my struggles and share my story, as well as hear others. It was so comforting to know I'm not the only one battling some inner demons SR is the only place I've been understood.
cool beans!!!!!
We are average Americans. All sections of this country and many of its occupations are represented, as well as many political, economic, social, and religious backgrounds. We are people who normally would not mix. But there exists among us a fellowship, a friendliness, and an understanding which is indescribably wonderful. We are like the passengers of a great liner the moment after rescue from shipwreck when camaraderie, joyousness and democracy pervade the vessel from steerage to Captain's table. Unlike the feelings of the ship's passengers, however, our joy in escape from disaster does not subside as we go our individual ways. The feeling of having shared in a common peril is one element in the powerful cement which binds us. But that in itself would never have held us together as we are now joined.
The tremendous fact for every one of us is that we have discovered a common solution. We have a way out on which we can absolutely agree, and upon which we can join in brotherly and harmonious action. This is the great news this book carries to those who suffer from alcoholism
