Smile Can we all share some positive?

I have been reading quite a bit but have not posted, anyway a thought just came to me. Can we all share some of the great things about sobriety or that have been found through sobriety?

For me I was thinking about the energy and focus, as well as being an involved mother. We colored pictures last night

I'm only on my 6th day but the horrible anxiety I was experiencing the day after drinking has pretty much gone away (during the day anyway). I can leave the house and drive wherever I want without thinking about it, whereas before there were days I was so anxious that I was stuck at home all day.

I was able to fully enjoy all the beautiful gifts given to me on Sunday. I was able to play with my son in the water, and had no anxiety whatsoever!

Sobriety is giving me back my mornings! There is nothing better than being awake before my family, having a quiet cup of coffee, then going out for a run just in time to see the sunrise. It's truly the most beautiful time of the day.

I'm happy to be relieved of the feeling that someone's looking over my shoulder - that I have something to hide or be ashamed of. No more deceipt, lies to keep track of, hiding and covering up what I drank. Never again.

Nice thread dude

Running. I love running now. And mornings and nights. Being in bed generally actually - in every respect

Being thirsty. I never imagined how good honest, clean thirst could feel.

Sober4, thanks for reminding me of all those things You rock!
xx

Knowing what my feelings are now. Before I had no idea if I was really happy, really sad as it was all masked and manipulated by booze. I'm a whole new me.

Hmm lets see

Participating in life versus being alone and withdrawn from everyone and everything
Sleeping even if its not great
Eating and enjoying food
Not feeling like heck when I wake up and searching for a drink
Not on the crazy train of buying , hiding and all the paranoia of a binge
Not retching and worse
Remember yesterday
Being present today and in the moment
Not smelling like a liquor store
Regaining some self esteem
Can drive when I want to
Can look at myself in the mirror and not shudder
Being able to enjoy laughter
Being able to work effectively
Saving money
Seeing I can be someone I like and other can too

Hmm lots more but it also creates some new challenges like how to live life sober ....strange territory as well but hmm change and strange can be good !

I am a mom to my kids. I play with them, I listen to them, I go to their events, and I enjoy every minute of it.
I have a relationship with my mom.
I have true friends.
I have a job.
I have my own place.
Most importantly, I have a relationship with God.
