Is pride the answer?
Seven days have gone by without a drink and my pride is one of the things that is stopping me from drinking. I think that might be a dangerous thing. Any thoughts?

I think pride can be a double edged sword.
I can remember being so proud of not drinking I thought I had the problem licked...and the first thing I did then was pick up a beer....
and then pride can stop you from reaching out and getting the help you need when things start to fall apart again....
The pride I feel now is kind of a healthy respect for myself...it's not the wildly fluctuating prideful/self loathing thing I used to have goin' on....
I think it's great you're asking questions and wondering...I think it's good to keep yourself grounded

I think you hit the nail on the head when you talked about the wrong kind of pride that f***s with you instead of helping you. I know that what I am feeling right now is not the healthy self confident kind but the wrong kind. Thanks for bringing me back to earth.
