Nobody debated methodology and if sharing how it worked for you is promoting a specific program....How do you avoid that?

Well, actually, yeah.

Living a sober life is what is working for you. This is the same for any alcoholic who lives a sober life. You're not different or exceptional in that you have found a proven way to live a sober life. Other ways have proven to work too.

When you say your alive right now because of the AA program, you're taking a personal subjective experience and generalizing it to be able to credit AA.

it's not a sales pitch if it addresses the issue or topic of the thread. If it hijacks the thread and turns it away from the issue the OP is seeking input on, and turns it into a forum for another poster to share their program, then it has become a sales pitch.

It seems that you are taking this personally. Or thinking that I am only referring to a specific poster, program and thread. I am not.

IN MY EXPERIENCE...I have seen a number of threads on the newcomers forum that DO debate methodology.

Of course share what works for you, Sapling, ie sobriety works for you, yeah?

Spiritual sobriety to be more realistic.

AA is not the only source of such a sobriety, and so, that is simple truth.

There is no constant need to suggest to others how and what and when to get themselves to AA. Most of your suggestions sound like your at an AA meeting as you speak, and your a kind of semi-sponsor to whom ever you decide needs your advice.

You see it as simply passing on what worked for you... awesome... awesome that is, if your at an AA meeting, sure thing. This forum is not in any way an AA meeting or fellowship.

See what I mean?

Sapling, please go back and read the first post of this thread.

This thread is not about a particular thread, it is about a pattern that has been recognized lately on these forums and has become a concern to many.

You won't find one post where I have said it was. Not one.

Way cool, then why don't you try just sharing how spiritual sobriety is the thing that works for you, okay?

You have nothing to lose by doing that, except not being able to credit AA, or advise others of getting themselves to AA....

It's pretty sad when a heartfelt thread about our Forum turns into the very thing a lot of people was upset about.

I wouldn't like any newcomer to judge us on the last page or so here.

I'm not sure what's gotten into people lately - but I think we're done here.
