Dont ever forget just simply quitting drinking is just the beginning to be sober and happy.

Congrats on your life now compared to before.

Sapling, It totally makes sense. Wow. Thank you. I am assuming that is from the Big Book? The concept of it being an allergy to alcohol is new to me, and at first I thought- no, that's not me. But as I look back on my years drinking, even as a teenager, while it wasn't a huge "problem" until the past 10 years, I definately felt I "drank differently" than others. Thank you again.

They gave me that book in rehab...I'd been drinking 35 years...And I didn't have a clue why I drank like I did....Once I understood that...It made it easier for me to solve it. That is from the Big Book. And it has a solution too.

Sapling, I read the excerpt you posted, and find it comforting to think it's not ALL in my head!

It makes sense though...One beer always ended in disaster for me.

I know. I become downright irrational after the first one...I keep going, right into the territory of regret and shame. :-(

it's not easy because the disease of alcoholism is cunning, baffling, powerful, patient, and deadly.
