am i going crazy?

so....sober day 22. doing pretty well. not having much in the way of cravings, and am sponsored and home-grouped up:)
however,
I ITCH LIKE CRAZY!
i know that sounds nuts, but my legs and arms just itch like mad- i'll wake up in the night scratching myself til i've left a bruise...
i'm going to see my GP next week to get a full blood panel done, and i'll tell her about this. wondering if this could be part of recovery/ some kind of ongoing detox symptom?
anyone had experience with this?
hope all of you are well! thanks!!!
xoxo

I get like that after I've had codeine but never alcohol? Not sure, definitely a good idea to see a doctor. :)

I had it detoxing from weed and beer

And Valium.

If you are sponsored-up and grouped-up you'll be fine !!

All the best.

During my first two months of sobriety, I felt like I was going to come out of my skin. Itching, restlessness, just a general feeling of "get me out of ME!" It passes. I found that taking a natural sleep aid like valerian, melatonin, etc. really helped to smooth me out. I'm sorry you're going through this, but it WILL pass. Hang in there. :)

I itched a lot coming off alcohol. I think it was due to me being so dehydrated and my body's chemistry being so off kilter. I can't remember how long it lasted but it wasn't as severe as yours.

Glad you are seeing your Doctor.

It is common and comes from the 'inside' not the skin. Comes from the nerve endings that have been 'fried' by the alcohol:

Not medical advice, far from it, just reassurance that many of us have felt this.

Many of us have had it, HOWEVER, to be on the safe side, be HONEST with your doctor and tell all.

<<<<<<<------------ And why do you think I took that name here? I also had my hands start looking like the wrinkled way they look when you have been in the water too long. It lasted severe for several months and even though my skin was dry the terrible dandruff and flaking skin got much better. Even though I am a guy that is not into feeling greasy, I started using women's moisturizing soap and used a ton of skin lotion.

I did detox in hospital and had my docs doing full blood workups regularly. My docs weren't overly concerned while I freaked out the first few months.

I am at two years sober in September. As long as your docs are keeping tabs on you, you should eventually get over it. I still have to use a lot of lotion, but that may just be normal.

Few had it then here but trust me I know how you feel.

I remain,

Itchy
