Poll: how much are you saving weekly now sans alcohol??

I've done the math and I'm saving at least $58 a week! And this isn't including how much I'd spend going out...
WHOA!!!

I am one of those that never added it up because I didn't drink everyday. But when I drank, I DRANK. If I drank everyday it would probably be around $8- $10 per day. I drank those airplane bottles of flavored vodka. It would be more if I drank wine though. Which I did.

So I don't know. I am just glad I am not drinking!!!

Probably about $100 a week, sometimes a lot more, depending on which wines I bought. That's just for me; if we wanted to include my husband's drinking, I don't even know ...

With the money I saved from not buying poison, I was able to build a bleeding-edge new desk top computer. And had money left over. Increased my insurance coverage on my home and car - free, paid out of what I was burning on booze. Go out to eat once a week on my rum savings. Looking at replacing all my carpet flooring with hardwood next, but that is a goal the bottle will pay next year.

Future - whole house air conditioning. The money I wasted on drinking was absurd.

when I stopped drinking I decided to put the $$$ i used to spend on booze into something *sensible*....I've been making double+$20.00 principal payments on my mortgage since May, 2010. (according to my accountant who does my taxes, i'm shaving 13 years off my mortgage). i also had the main bathroom gutted and remodelled. I was paying attention to sales and saved over $300. on the fixtures and toilet.

I took a hit with my salary this year, losing a lot of overtime pay, but i still seem to have enough to pay the extra on the mortgage....my principle drops each year too, reducing the payment.

I'd say in the $50-$100 week, depending on whether I went to a bar, which could quickly add up.

In my mind I tell myself it's $300 a month. On average that seems about right.

Fandy...you are awesome! That's a great way to handle the extra.

I have calculated that my habits of drinking and smoking were costing me at least $15/day, so $450/month. But, you could easily round up to $600 with drinks out, and extra booze days on the weekend. And that was just me. My wife drinks a lot less now, so I'd put my estimate at $600/mo. That's $7,200/yr, or a new car every 3 or 4 years!

Oh, this is for 2 people, not 1, btw!

£8 a day. More on weekend. At least two nights out at about £100 as pop. £500 ish? Which is about 750 bucks. Then double that when I quit smoking. Oh dear hahaha.

A LOT!!!

My bank account looks the best it's ever been and I'm not denying myself any compulsive purchases either. I was going to blow it on booze anyway, right?

I would guess probably around $60-$80 per week. I always stopped for my daily happy hour one or 2 beers at a local brewpub, about 4 bucks per beer. Then the real drinking started at home when i'd go through 8-12 beers a night. I'd buy the cheap stuff at home thoguh...so only about 8 bucks a 12 pack.

Unhappy

How much did I have to spend?
Combine all the intoxicants I would spend over 300$ a week (I had to carry my using X)
This is day 3 for me...I have 5$ bucks left for tomorrows smokes...tomorrow will be my first payday
afraid to turn my phone back on...I haven't burned all my bridges to my using friends (everyone, but 1 who is faltering in his 5 yr sobriety)
My emotions are overrunning my capacity to think....I miss my woman even tho...
I will be sure to blow it all on back bills quick!
at least that is my plan.

I bet I am saving around $110 a month, mind you I am on a very limited income. Hey, I can afford to get cable and still have some left over to use productively!
