Insomnia in the early days
Lydie here - starting day 8.
Just wanted to share my experience in regards to the no sleep issue (which SUCKS I KNOW!!!)
Day 1 - back from hospital.
Slept ALL DAY - from 8 am - 8 pm (I wasn't asleep the ENTIRE time - but I WAS afraid to get out of bed - for fear I'd go to liquor store - THAT'S ALCOHOLISM baby!)
Night 1 - nope - no sleep at all
Day 2 - nope - no sleep at all
Night 2 - about 2 or 3 hours intermittently from 8 pm - 2 am
Day 3 - awake
Night 3 - awake
Day 4 - awake
Night 4 - maybe 4 hours, again intermittently from around 11-4
Day 5 - awake
Night 5 - forget about it!
Day 6 - awake
Night 6 - Slept solidly for about 4 hours - up at 3:30
Day 7 - small and satisfying 20 minute nap
Night 7 (last night) - SLEPT a SOLID 7 hours - up at 5:30
Day 8 - today - it's 5:30 - and while I'd have liked another couple hours I decided to listen to my body and get up when IT got up - I feel a lot less nuts today and am going to plow through until 10 tonight so I can get on a regular sleeping schedule...
Hope this helps anyone out there who thinks they need to take a drink to get some sleep (I almost did last night - SO GLAD I DIDN'T)
Please wait it out - sleep returns!
Hope you're all hanging in there and finding some peace and joy in recovery.
