8 years clean and sober today

Hard to believe 8 years ago I was coming off a Memorial Day drinking binge. Someone has sent me link to SR and I had looked at it a few times and the stories sounded familiar. That was the day I decided to give up the bottle. All you new folks don't give up! I was you that day!!!

That is really nice of you, Cindy, to stop by and say hello. I would like to know more about your story, if you can share.

So much happier and no longer having to spend all day worrying about alcohol and living in that horrible vicious circle!

Lots of alcohol problems in family and always a weekend party person. After I was married husband and I continued that lifestyle. In my thirties drinking became more of a daily thing. Thought I could handle it but started passing out and having blackouts. Got a DUI but kept going. Began lying about my drinking and hiding it. Most things us alcoholics do.Finally had to change nh life.

How did you go about making the changes, if I can ask, Cindy? How did you do it?

Sorry it was all or nothing for me. I used to go to the sober calculator everyday to see the days add up

hi Cindy,
congrats on the 8 years. Yes I think once we realize that we can never ever drink again, half the battle is won.
