First sober memorial day in 12 years

Some crazy stuff happened tho, (fighting, pukeing, hospital visits), glad i wasn't any part of that.. it feels good to feel good, and I'll actually be productive today at work, got my evening plans made. I never would have been this organized with a hangover

I often wonder when the day set aside to honor fallen heros
slid into a drunkfest?
As a child....I was so proud to go with my Dad to help put
the flags on vet's graves. We then returned on Memorial Day
for services Dad all decked out with his military medals
and VFW hat.

That hat is still being worn...passed down now to my youngest
Grandson...yet another in my family wounded in combat.

Did not mean to hi-jack your thread...forgive an old woman's trip down memory lane...

I'm thrilled you were not part of these peoples destructive actions.
Well done...

congrats. Same here! I can't remember the last time I was sober on memorial day. Heck, I can't remember the last time I went 2 weeks without alcohol either.

Way to go Dan! I hear ya...Memorial Day like many other days was an 'excuse' to drink--no longer my friend. Being sober we have a clearer view of what the holiday really means.

yea, i dunno, I'm guessing the drunkfest started long ago. I did see some people getting pretty wasted, i don't miss it. There's some drinkers that I don't mind being around, like the ones who drink but never act any different than when they're not drinking, but the one's who get all crazy make me nervous.
