BBQ and no beer....
Bruno - Firstly, brother, I understand the place where that statement comes from.
As an alcoholic, I kinda "get" how it can be so, so hard for an abused lover to break the spell of his/her abuser.
Especially in the beginning, it is easy to romanticize one's prior relationship with alcohol. The truth of the matter, however, is that alcohol is your psycho ex-girlfriend. Even though the sex might have been great now and again, the **** was eventually going to set your house on fire while you slept.

The good thing about surviving last night is that it will keep me clean for atleast another week. Well until the next challenge that is next weekend.
Probably the wrong attitude I know, but its working. :-)

I found it useful to look at everything in terms of conditioned responses. Then it becomes 'oh, I've never done this sober before, how exciting' rather than, 'how the hell am I going to get through this without booze'.
If you've got through one weekend sober then you can do it again, and again... But in the mean time, if you're just trying to go on as normal and just not drink, don't feel bad if you have to duck out of a few social events until you become secure in your sobriety. There's no need to put undue pressure on yourself x

This is priceless advice, and something I have been striving to do, but never could I put it so eloquently and succinctly into words. Thank you for this Hypo. I am putting your words into my phone so I always have them with me.
Good for you Bruno!

I'm heading to a BBQ in awhile....It's with a bunch of my AA friends...It's really different going to a BBQ where you think more about what's on the grill...Than what's left in the cooler. I'm carmelizing a big pan of chopped onions right now...It's a great dip if anyone wants to try it this weekend...Get the onions where they just turn brown....Mix with equal parts Mayo and Greek Yogurt...Season with Salt...Garlic Powder and White Pepper to taste...Depending on how many you make it for...I probably have about 10 to 15 going...So I'm using a large contaner of Greek Yogurt and equal amount of Hellmanns...And a bunch of chopped onions...It's killer...A couple large bags of Ruffles and you're in. Be good today everyone....Stay safe...Sane...And sober.
Just been to a BBQ and not drinking really didn't bother me at all. I drank a whole bottle of coke zero. Someone mentioned Ice Tea. I've had a store bought one before and it's nice, but is it not full of sugar? I'm losing weight and I'm not going to jeopardise it by swapping alcohol for sugary drinks!
"psycho ex" brilliant hahaha.
