Hi my name is Stacy,
I started drinking a year ago sociallyy. The past 3 months have been drinking the 5 liter boxes of red wine (1 every 3 nights). I thought ok ,this is too much I will just stop. I had last drink on Monday night and I have now had all symptoms in last 48 hours. I went to see doctor today he gave me a referral to a pshiatrist and emergency room. I just went home. My symptoms are sweating, seeing smoke, been up 30 hours, hearing noises.... I am so scared. My blood pressure was also 130/88 which it is normally 120/60. Do you think its possible for this to go away by Tuesday? Thank you all for listening the reading has been great

Welcome to SRstacy1977...Good to see you are deciding to quit....I'm not sure I understand...You went to the doctor and told him what you want to do and he referred you to the ER? Is that right?

No, I didn't. He wasnt my regular doctor and didn't care for him but I thought I was having heart attache. It is night 2 and believe it or not I feel 1 million times better then when I was there. I am hoping I can just hang on. Is there any non narcotics for the anxiety?

Thank you for advice. I just started a new great career and do not want to miss work. I am really scared though . Most sites say the high b.p. can kill you. I am actually glad mine was high for me but not considered high for the average person. This site is awesome
Hi Stacy
I think to be safe you need to get checked out - it really is in your best interests.
Go back to the ER or see a regular Dr.

Stacy,
Hang in there. If you still feel badly after work tomorrow, you would be doing yourself a big favor by going to the ER or one of those med clinics. If anything, it will just ease your mind that you are ok. And if you are not ok, then you need to know.
I take Melatonin to go to sleep - it is sold at most drug stores that carry herbs/vitamins (I get mine at Walmart). I have insomnia at times (especially when I was getting sober...I couldn't turn my mind off) and melatonin works great. It is totally natural and is in the vitamin aisle. It works for a lot of people, and it is very inexpensive. Take care.
