Today my sobriety has improved my relationship with ________?

Created this thread to help us pay daily attention to how sobriety improves and sustain relationships, old and new...

Today, I see how sobriety has improved my relationship with my father. Sober, I can try to be there for him in his grief, and because I am sober I can see the ways he is trying to be there for me, too. It is a beautiful and miraculous thing...

Everyone and everything lol...

My girlfriend mainly. I can be more supportive of her needs as well as not being a short tempered drunken moron when she's happy.

100,000% my relationship with myself - it's the best it has ever been in 52 years of life.

Next would be my almost 11 y.o. daughter. She is learning to trust me again and we are having a love fest and so much fun! She adores her sober Mom.

And so do I.

Pam

The first person that came to mind was my boyfriend for all that crap I have put him through and for not being the same girlfriend he fell in love with when we met.

But most of all, it's me. I did things for ME today.
And that is very important.

Today, my sobriety has improved my relationship with my colleagues, as I was less reactive to a very stressful workday today, and worked hard at not feeling like a victim or martyr....

Knowing I could not drink when I came home, made me deal with my feelings as they came up, which benefitted all.

Sapling: Believe it or not, he is a mutt who was abandoned....I had dna pet testing done on him, and he has strains of pomeranian (tail, fur, etc) & rhodesian ridgeback (legs) and vizsla (his personality) . In other words, he is perfect in every way!

Today my sobriety has improved my relationship with my daughter, as she has been confiding in me... and because I do not drink, I remember all the details of previous conversations and don't have to fake my way through it.

Today, my sobriety has improved my relationship with a girlfriend... I told her yesterday I had quit drinking, and today we worked to find other things to do together, and found we both have a passion for a similar hobby and never knew it till now.
