Headaches

Well just a little about me. I've been drunk for the past 15 years. Im now 30 and had something click inside me. I've been sober for 16 days now. The weird thing is I keep getting these random headaches all the time. Is this just part of the sobering up thing?

Headaches could be anything or nothing. If you're worried, go see your Dr. Can't hurt. Congratulations on your sobriety!

I had plenty headaches in the first couple of weeks. I tried to drink lots of water, and an advil once in a while, and then phhhhhhhht, they were gone.

Are you replacing your fluid intake? I drank beer, but the liquid, although having alcohol in it, did help me to function..... In early recovery I drank a lot of water.

Alcohol dehydrates us, but it also numbs us inside our body.....when we get more "normal" we need to flush out the toxins and try to get our bodies to function without numbing it...

Drink more water and see if the headaches subside. A doctor appointment would ease your mind that nothing else is going on that you were numb to while drinking.

I wish you well,

Yea, I used to get random headaches too, they started going away after about 2-3 weeks though. Like someone said above, if you're concerned see a doctor. Best of luck, and congrats on 16 days!

Welcome SoberBrad!

I've heard a lot of people mention headaches in early recovery, but of course everyone's experience is a little different. I can't remember if I had them or not, but that's probably because they weren't nearly as strong as the ones I used to get from drinking. I hope you get some relief soon!

Congrats on your 16 days - great start!!!

Welcome to SR soberbrad. Random possibility: Go see a dentist. I had headaches off and on after a couple of weeks sober and it turned out I had a deep cavity in a molar that I'd been numbing with alcohol for years.

I'm on day 27 and last week I had three days of headaches. I was thinking it might have been all the candy I had been eating from craving sugar after kicked the alcohol.

I eased up on the sugar intake and increased water and things got better.
