Cinco de Mayo

I saw this another site..

I'm not above using obscure Mexican battles to justify my drinking.

It just made me think of all the rediculous reasons I used to drink. I'd drink because it was fricken raining.

I was just chatting with a friend from work on facebook. Says she is going to go out and have some drinks to celebrate. Celebrate what? Asked me what I was doing. I said I am going to sit here and watch the ground crack. Sounds a lot more fun then drinking my self into a coma and winding up in the same pitiful whole I am constantly trying to dig myself out of. No thank you.

No need to mess up a wonderful period of sobriety for anything. My sobriety means more to me than anything in else. Hope everyone has a happy and sober day.

Also i hope everyone lays off the Mint Julips on Derby Day.

Reminds me of my husband, who gave up alcohol for Lent, and then gave up Lent for St. Patrick's Day.

Cinco De Mayo isn't even a big deal to Mexicans. Who the hell celebrates a victory over the French?

Its just another excuse for the beer and liquor companies to create a "special" drinking occassion.

I don't "do" holidays. I hadn't while drinking as EVERY day was "My Holiday" and a reason to drink and get high.

Suki, I LOVE that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear ya, as if I really needed an excuse...
The local news ran a story from 30 ~ 40 years ago about a Mexican man getting shot dead by police and how that caused a riot... I know that alone must have boosted alcohol sales and started a fire in the guts of young latinos who weren't even alive back then.

It's pretty bad when you're glad you've had a bad day cuz it's a good excuse to buy the BIG bottle of wine

Those BIG bottles of wine are my undoing.

I went out with a friend to a Japanese restaurant tonight and he just had to have a Mexican beer (Corona) just because it was today. Ugh even when I was drinking I did not like Corona.

I live in a wonderful place, close to the beach...
but it just took me 25 minutes to find a parking spot near my house. I'm surrounded by drinking establishments. I'm dog sitting, and a drunk woman decided to pound on my window to say hi to the dog. There's all sorts of drunken revelry on the streets around me...and I'm realizing:
I really don't like drunk people. Just...no. No thank you.
