Wow so many great posts.....
I wish I could answer each of you. Alas I can't.
Just too many!
Some posts hurt...like I'm a crappy carpenter and that's why I drink when I fix the deck. Your probably right. I hate manual labor. I'm a programmer and Network Admin by trade so carpentry tools require me to pretend I know what I'm doing...Via...beer.
I'm really good at what I do. But somehow, I feel emasculated and worthless when I can't even pound a nail in straight.
Around here, manual labor and knowledge of cars and carpentry carry a lot of weight.
What I do as a trade? Excuse me ladies.......considered ***** work.
I love physics and philosophy and politics and most of all music. Nobody I know in my circles can converse with me. It always ends up "hey did you see the new nail gun at home depot?"
....No...I didn't. And no i don't care.
BORING!
Back on topic. I have a Dr appointment on Monday.
I HAVE to take at least a week off work to get through this.
I don't want them to know why I'm taking a week off. That would be bad.
Hopefully my new Dr will write me a note for "stress leave" or something.
I realize that some of you have had to do this while still working. I salute you. I cannot because my job IS a big reason why I drink when I drink. I have to get out of that routine for a while.
Thanks everyone for the critiques and advice. I will keep you posted.
AnyDay,
Just too many!

I found sobriety, sanity and a new zest for life in Alcoholics Anonymous.
My life greatly improves when I try to help the newcomer.
What part of our great Country do you live in?
All the best.

My husband is a computer programmer and isn't terribly handy around the house. I like sports, fishing and grilling. He doesn't. No problem. You have to find a way to be confident and comfortable in who you are. Easier said than done. Have you considered AA? You would probably find a lot of help in Steps 4 and 5. I'm just starting them myself and there's a lot of self descovery that happens that helps you realize what led you to drinking. I used to think that if i quit drinking i'd be fine but that's not true. I'd just be the sad individual i was that started drinking in the first place. Consider AA or a similar recovery method.
