Anxiety
I quit drinking a week ago and I feel a lot better. Lots more time to do things it seems like. However I seem to have a problem with anxiety. Does anyone have any tips as to dealing with this? I feel like it was a big trigger for my drinking and I want to find a way to deal with it without drinking. Anyway this is my first post. thanks!
I've always had social anxiety. It controlled my life and still does to some extent. I gotta tell you tho, since I've been sober and participated in meetings it has gotten much better. I'm becoming comfortable in my own skin. My Psychiatrist told me to introduce myself to 5 new people a day whenever I can, and just interact with people more. I have been and its getting easier, I was always worried people wouldn't like me. But when I went to rehab I found it to be the exact opposite. People do like me but more importantly I like myself. I have to expose myself to the situations that make me anxious to help overcome it. This is a big deal for me because if I don't I might end up using again so I can deal with it.
