100 Days today

I don't count the days like I did at first but figured I would make this post as I just hit the triple digits. For anyone just starting out off the drinking it gets MUCH easier. I'd say the first 30 days were the hardest, then it eases up to 60 days and from there you are basically trying to get used to living a "normal life" again which brings its own learning curve, which is where I sit currently.

I think some of the best advice I got (which was from this site) was "you drank for 10 years, its going to take longer than 30 or 60 days to get things normal again..give it time".

The most important thing is that emotionally, mentally and physically where I was, and where I am are completely different. I don't even associate with that old life anymore, it was such a mess. I will say that writing out the past 10 years was pretty helpful as it blatantly points out where things went wrong, what scenarios and situations led to disaster and it helps forward planning immensely.

It sounds simple but it's VERY eye opening. When its on paper you can see things that you didn't like or didn't work out for you but also lets you know of things you DID like and were positive. It gives you a plot of things to avoid and/or aim for ultimately to make your future easier. Rather than just going where the wind blows us, like most of us when drinking.

Writing everything out sets the foundation of your new path and as your mind heals itself sober the pieces start coming together naturally, but that foundation helps big time.

Re-visiting all those things from your past, good and bad, is an experience in its own...I urge all to give it a try
