jeez, the more I read...
Me too! The more you hang here, the more respect you have for the fact that the folks here deserve your respect. Then it hits you, we are a bunch of alcoholics just like you!
If we deserve respect, and are worth hanging around, perhaps, you are too? Some of the most successful and talented people are alcoholics. The ones who stopped usually survive it.
We all share a wing in this circle, just spread yours and soar with us. Pretty soon someone will need to be taken under your wing too. Maybe today.

I love that you used that expression. It brings me back to when I was "new"...over 30 years ago. There may be some here who remember back then when the newcomers in AA were referred to as "pigeons" by their sponsors. I took it to mean they were taking us under their wings. For some reason, the pigeon referrence took on the "dirty bird" connotation and was replaced with newbie or sponsee.
I never took offense to the word...I figured, if it was good enough for my sponsor, it was good enough for me.
I'm glad you found SR and that sobriety has been a good experience for you. There definitely is a lot of caring and support here.
