Hello, I'm new and tomorrow is DAY 1!!

I don't feel like I have to do this but...
I WANT to do this!!

I licked cigs years ago, so I now I have the ability to do this and so...
now it's time to abstain from alcohol!!

My plan is in place and one thing that really helped with cigs was a great online community of supporters who were going through the same thing!!

Is there anyone else starting tomorrow? Are there some pros out there that can lend some support, tips, wisdom etc.?

Bring it on please!!
Thanks!!
Lar

Guitwitz, join in, thats my motto. There are lots of people here who want to help you, as people helped us when we came aboard

Join in the forums, the NewPosts link at the top tells you what is most popular, the MyPosts you can see replies to what you have said

There are also Blogs, where you can express your feelings, mind you they are like screaming in a dark cave, as not a lot of people go and read those, but there is some interesting stuff there

Also there is an April 2012 group there will be a May one along soon if they seem a bit long in the tooth for you

Hope you like SR

Welcome guitwiz!

Congratulations on making the decision to get sober! There's so much in the way of wisdom/tips/support here, I think if you just start reading the posts (esp. in the Newcomers and Alcoholism sections), you'll find all kinds of ways to get and stay motivated. We all need support and you picked a great place to come!

That is good advice that I take with many things. Felt like I needed a couple days to prepare and get my plan in place for this task. Today is day 1, I'm doing this. Thanks for your reply! :-)

Billy, Thank you for the good advice. I noticed that you are from Manchester that is where my grandmum was born and raised. I love Manchester United. I have always been proud to be half Brit and was in the Daughters of the British Empire. I am hoping that once I am clean from the oxycodone and the other opiates that I will be able to join and be active again in DBE. I hang the Union Jack in my room. I dream of going back to the UK.

My grandpa was from Glascow Scotland, so I also feel I have to cheer the Glasgow team too beside Manchester United.

It is nice that Brits are on this forum too. I know that I found this forum for a reason when I had decided to take myself off oxycodene because I have been on it for years and I had become addicted. What is a good way to help a friend see the truth that they are addcited to the oxycodone 15 mg at least 3 times a day? She told me that we weren't drug addicts because we didn't do street drugs, and I told her that we are drug addicts and will go through the same withdrawals that one would go through if they used heron as their drug of choice. I am grateful that I have found this forum as I believe it will save my life.

Love and Blessings
Chrisy
