The things that hold us back—the fear, the despair, the sense that life would be too painful or stressful or dull without alcohol—are nothing more than lies that our addiction feeds us.
Recognize the lies for what they are, and you're half way home.

Don't get complacent. If you make it a couple of weeks, or months, or even years, don't fall into the trap of thinking you've got it licked. Alcoholism is the most patient thing in the world. It will wait years, so do something every single day specifically to maintain your sobriety.
Tell a new person ONE thing.
I would tell them what I wish I'd heard but am ultimately glad I found out for myself---> Recovery is less about the act of putting down the actual drink and more about living a life that's not full of fear.
"Did you hear about the lying, cheating, horse thief from up the road? He stopped drinking but now he's a lying, cheating horse thief" !! (Credit to an AA,over heard at a meeting)

Get honest about your problem and yourself. Get support - its' much easier when we don't do this alone. Make a strong and honest commitment to changing. Start working on your changing your thinking.
In the tough times remind yourself you only have to get o the end of the day sober, look for the positives in every situation, and become grateful for all you have.

I think I'd go with this one...
"Do you see all those posts on here where people are celebrating 10 years? 15 years? 20?...Even 30 years?....They're all doing the same thing. Maybe that works."

Stop getting ready and start getting to it.
Not the tomorrow that never comes. Not when everything is right and there is no stress, and not with conditions like as long as I don't have to whatever, and not waiting for it to fall from the sky or be instantly available through a pill.
