TOPIC: Are You A Compassionate Person?
How Compassionate are you to
others? Compassionate to another living thing?
What ways do you show compassion? Is it
love, caring, sharing, lending an ear, helping
hand? Gift giving? Holding hands? Kissing?
Playing with a child? Loving your pets? Helping
a flower grow?
Just this morning as I was strolling around
my pool as I often do to check for frogs that
might jump in for a swim and can't get out,
I found one and rescued him or her.
I scooped it out and brought it to the cushiony
grass in hopes it was ok. And it was.
So i stayed with it for awhile slowly giving it
a nudge to hop away. And it did.
That little compassionate act made me smile
and feel all fuzzy wuzzy inside.

I am very much the same.
It doesn't matter what it is - I like to save pretty much everything if it comes uninvited into my apartment or gets stuck somewhere.
The other day I found a honey bee on the staircase where I live...usually someone would just kill it...I ran all over my apartment trying to find a plastic glass to "trap" it...
Finally I found something and was able to get him/her inside and set it free back out into the world.
But I think I show compassion in other areas as well. I take care of loved ones, make sure they are spoiled and happy. Make them fantastic meals and teas. Care for people when they are sick. Send little cards off in the mail instead of emailing.
I just try to be the best person I can be in this life and of course, in the next.
Posts like this make me realize that I need to be grateful for what I have.
And drinking was never the answer to anything.

Compassion is a very important part of my job. Considering I work with dogs, my compassion has to be 'felt'. Dogs feel fear, they feel stress. Because they can not 'say' they are scared and I can not tell them I'm not going to hurt them -I have to show them. They have to 'feel' my compassion and patience and just know they are safe. I try extremely hard on a daily basis to make each dog's experience as stressfree, fun and loving as I possibly can in my power.
I like to think of myself as more empathetic with them. I try to feel how they feel in a new environment, standing on a table with a noose around their neck. Believe it or not alot of dogs are scared of heights and I try to adjust my table accordingly to ease their fear. Alot of dogs are not used to being put in a crate so those dogs get put in a larger crate and pet parents are called quickly so the dog doesn't have to remain in fear any longer than he has to.
I find as I get older and more patient in life I have slowed my thoughts down to actually consider one's feelings at a different level.
Drinking surely is a 'me hobby' and compassion is hard too come by with a drunk.
