This is what you do when you can't drink :-)

My neighbors downstairs invited us down for drinks. My husband is enjoying beer upstairs. I decided to bake for a party tomorrow. I had a really hard time with cravings tonight. I became REALLY irritable, and well. . .jealous.

So I baked. :-) Oreos, junior mints, and runts candy.

That's cute!

I had a really hard time feeling left out of situations when I first quit. The best thing to do is to try to be thankful for your sobriety when that happens though, and remember that if you were there that you wouldn't be happy anyways.

Keep on baking!

I think that red velvet might have been a mistake. It is going to look like owl guts when the kids bite into them.

Praying and baking, praying and baking.

You are so right Josh. The feelings of irritability and jeolousy faded, replaced with extreme pride in myself (not to sound like a humble bragart.) I was working hard in the kitchen after everyone went to sleep, and there were three beers left in the fridge from my husband's six pack.

For the briefest minute, I thought, "How great would it be to enjoy these beers. Everyone is asleep, I have time to myself, I don't need to drive anywhere, and how delightful would it be to have a buzz while cleaning the kitchen."

Then realized how ridiculous that thinking was. I treasure my sobriety, and love how I feel in the morning. It just wasn't worth it. Not worth sacrifcing a bit of this new life. So I persevered through what was a perfect storm of opportunity.

As always, thanks to the support of you people out there. SR is largely responsible for my very young sobriety.

Fantastic! What a great attitude, when you're anxious to drink, you made happiness instead!

Thanks for the smile today and congratulations!

I love them, how cute! Isn't amazing wthat we can accomplish when we aren't drinking, thinking about drinking, or hungover?
Good for you for remembering how that story would end if you drank those three beers. Waking up in the morning proud and clear headed is a feeling I do NOT want to give up for anything either.
If I remember correctly, you and I share the same start date- today is day 16!

We are headed to an annual champagne brunch today. It is typically a very boozy outdoor affair, and I have always had too much to drink. Not this year.

Thinking good thoughts, and baking good things. I am now the crazy cupcake lady. Better than the crazy drunk lady.

I love that you did something creative instead of drinking. Great job!
