Back after 7 years being out there
Hi...I had 16 years of sobriety and went back out for 7 years of moral degradation. I am a single mom and need to get it together. I want to be a positive role model for my kids. I am so tired of being depressed, hopeless and ungrateful. Thanks for having a forum that gives me some hope...God Bless

I went to AA meetings, had a sponsor did all the right things. I need to do that again. Was in a very abusive marriage and white knuckled it for a long time. Got divorced and now need to get back to the basics.I'm scared to death......It's really hard to walk back into those doors of AA. I'm also scared of what will happen if I don't. It's funny I've been praying really hard and it was like a lightning bolt...I AM AN ALCOHOLIC....it wasn't the job or the ex it's me.
Hi Halo,
Bless your heart. I can relate. I went to rehab at 35, sober for 8 years, drank, then sober for 9 years. White knuckled it in an abusive marriage. Finally divorced when sober and moved to Austin from Atlanta to escape him. Started drinking as soon as I got here (duh!) Lived in alcohell for 4 years before quitting 8 months ago. I could not have done it without SR.
Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone, and that it can be done. The mental anguish, depression, etc., etc.....I had forgotten how bad it was. I am just now returning to normal (well, as normal as I can be). I am sorry, but you know what you need to do. Things will get better when you stop drinking. Please keep us posted. Take care.

Thank you Sissy! It's very refreshing to remember that we are not alone. Others have been there and done that. This is the type of fellowship I truly miss not being at AA. Others who relate. Thank You again and God Bless!

Glad you're back. It's often harder for people who had time to pick up the thread again than it is for a fresh face. It may help if you try to hang with people who have more time than you had when you left, as they can speak best to some aspects of your situation. You'll need people with that kind of understanding.

All the best to you.

I can relate too Halo. My last 'binge' was 7 yrs. I crashed & burned worse than ever, with dui's, ruined relationships & health problems. I consider us lucky to have made it out alive.
Glad you are here with us. You never have to go back to hell.
